June 12, 2009: By now, you should have received an email from UAH with an invitation to join the ANGEL SUSI website. Please follow the instructions in your email to log in to the ANGEL site. Under "Courses," click on "SUSI." Once you enter the SUSI page, you can click on the "SUSI 2009 Discussion Forum" to post a message introducing yourself! The ANGEL site is private and can only be accessed by UAH's SUSI staff, participants, instructors, and UAH student Ambassadors. You can use the forum to post questions and comments for everyone to read!

June 6, 2009: Hello, SUSI students! In the next few days, you will receive an email from UAH with instructions on how to set up your ANGEL account and access our online discussion forum. In the discussion forum, you can meet your fellow SUSI students from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, and you may interact with our UAHuntsville SUSI Ambassadors and the program staff! I will post another announcement here once the message is sent out. -- Sarah

May 22, 2009: Hello, again! While it is not at all necessary to give gifts to people you meet in the United States, many visitors wish that they had brought small gifts or souvenirs (a postcard, a handycraft) from their country to show to the people they meet or to give as gifts if they choose. Again, it is not necessary to give a gift, but Americans will always react with appreciation when presented with a gift, however small.

May 22 2009: Hello students! We are eagerly awaiting your arrival in Huntsville! We encourage you to bring a few (two or three) cultural artifacts with you to display at the end-of-program cultural fair in Washington D.C. in August. These artifacts from your home country could be clothing or objects (games, materials, literature, pictures, music, musical instruments) that showcase your culture (but are not too bulky or valuable or heavy to transport easily in your luggage. We would have for them to get damaged or lost during travel)! You will be holding a cultural fair to put your country and culture on display at the end of the program at UAH and during the Washington D.C. conference. Many past SUSI participants brought traditional clothing with them to wear during formal presentations, and this has always been very successful! You may coordinate what you should bring with your fellow UAH SUSI students on the Angel discussion forum. We look forward to meeting you! --Sarah

May 22, 2009: The OIPS staff will greet you when you and your fellow students arrive at the Huntsville International Airport on Sunday, June 28th. When you disembark from the airplane, follow the signs to “Baggage Claim,” and we will see you before you see us! We will be wearing blue UAH shirts.

May 22, 2009: Welcome to SUSI! Check your email for a welcome letter from the UAHuntsville SUSI staff (coming from Sarah Hemmings, the SUSI administrative director)! Don't forget to email us back at oip@uah.edu and tell us the information requested in the letter as soon as possible! This will help us prepare for your arrival.
