Council of International Clubs and Organizations (CICO)
CICO was founded to provide a forum and information center for mutual collaboration and cooperation among the various organizations, offices, and departments that promote intercultural relations, serve the needs of international students, and provide a means for American students who wish to take advantage of the many rich possiblities for cultural interaction available at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. CICO is a voluntary alliance; there are no membership fees involved. All existing international clubs and organizations are already by their nature members, while the only requirement for a new organization or club to join is that its purpose be the promotion of international cultural and friendship. Current CICO facilitators include the International Cultural Organization (ICO), the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS), and Global Studies (GS).

RESOURCES FOR UAH STUDENTS
- "E-PALS"; a first contact project designed to introduce future international students to life at UAH even before they arrive by giving them a network of friendship via email communication to be continued once they arrive in order to make the difficult transition of integration as pleasant as possible - in other words, making them feel as though they were coming home when they arrive to UAH!
- Access to help through all levels of adjustment that are intrinsic to being an international student abroad through the professional and devoted services provided by the friendly, knowledgable and highly skilled staff of CICO member OIPS, the Office of International Programs and Services. OIPS assists international students as they seek solutions to academic and personal problems, adapt to American culture and life and comply with university expectations and requirements.
- Unique study abroad opportunities through CICO member UAH Global Studies Cognate (GS)
- Information on multi-cultural events, clubs and organizations
OTHER RESOURCES
- eTandem, funded by the European Union's eTandem Evropa program, matches you together with a language learning partner from another country - by telephone, e-mail or other media. From your partner, you learn his or her language while he or she learns your native language.
